LCSO Prepares for COVID-19 – Corona Virus

I just wanted to reach out to residents and visitors to Lincoln County and give you a brief update of what preparations are underway here at the Sheriff’s Office and with all local law enforcement regarding COVID-19.

“Business as usual”, maintaining our current level of public safety service, is my priority. Internally, I am doing everything I can to help my staff stay healthy, following the Maine CDC’s recommendations.   Like most of you, we have stocked up on personal protective equipment as recommended by the CDC.

To that end, beginning today, I have temporarily restricted public access to the Sheriff’s Office building, while all services remain available by telephone and or web access.

My staff and I are working closely with our County and State EMA Offices, as well as the CDC to stay up to date on the latest information available concerning the corona virus. I am working with the Towns of Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, Waldoboro, and Wiscasset Police Departments to broaden our exiting practice of sharing resources, in the event it becomes necessary.

Again, our cumulative goal is to ensure little or no interruption in law enforcement services, in the event the virus effects any of our staff.

I take the challenges the corona virus presents to us all very seriously, and strongly encourage you to do the same. Please be patient with us if you require services within our building and expect a few extra questions if you call for police services.

I also ask that you join me in being as patient with each other as you can through this health crisis. I am very lucky to serve as Sheriff in a County where we still look out for one another, whether it be a neighbor, relative, or complete stranger.  There is no doubt in my mind that Lincoln County will shine through this challenge as it has so many times in the past.

Remember to wash your hands and smile as often as you can.

Sheriff Todd B. Brackett
